Our Emblem

At the center is the Sacred Heart of Jesus, aflame with divine love;
within the Sacred Heart is the Cross, the ultimate manifestation of God’s
love for us, and the symbol of how we as lay Catholics must willingly
respond to that love by bearing witness to our faith. The Cross likewise
represents the primary devotion of our patron Saint Thomas More,
devotion to the Sacred Passion of Our Lord, which gave him the courage
to die for the Catholic faith. Moreover, the Sacred Heart of Jesus
conjoined with a Cross is a symbol of the lay Catholics of the Vendee
region of western France who in the late eighteenth century resisted at
the cost of their lives the atheistic regime of the French Revolution. The
Sacred Heart and the Cross stand at the center of our logo, for all our
hearts should be at the foot of the Cross; and it is there at the foot of the
Cross that we should meet each other. The encircling Rosary symbolizes
our devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and our prayer life, for the
Rosary is the foremost symbol of the prayers of the laity. The dove
hovering over the Sacred Heart of Jesus represents the Holy Spirit, that
He might inspire and guide all our words and actions as lay Catholics.
